The Next Generation Maternal Infant Health Program is redefining care for mothers and infants in Wayne County. Through culturally sensitive home visits, we empower moms with the tools and support they need for healthy pregnancies and successful births. From essential baby items to fatherhood support and seamless connections to community resources, we’re here every step of the way.
Our vibrant community baby showers go beyond celebration—they’re a hub for maternal mental health, financial literacy, first aid skills, and peer connections. By addressing the medical, material, and social determinants of health, we’re tackling alarming maternal and infant mortality rates, particularly among Detroit’s African American families.
At Next Generation, we’re building healthier futures by giving children a strong start in loving, nurturing environments—because every generation deserves the chance to thrive.

“My son Tyler and I were blessed with Lesley as our social worker. As a new mom in a pandemic world, navigating life itself was difficult until Lesley came into our world. She has been the most helpful resourceful and kind human being to us. Anyone who gets to meet Lesley, or have her as their social worker will be blessed abundantly. We will never forget her and the loving kindness she brought to our family during a hectic time.
